Plate decorated in grisaille and gilt with a framed portrait of Martin Luther flanked by two angels, surmounted by a duck crest and inscribed in the lower part with the initials D:M:L all above an oval cartouche depicting Christ preaching to his Disciples
spearheads on the well and elaborate Du Paquier style border of foliage strapwork and birds divided by vignettes of running deer and boars
The title page of a Dutch Lutheran Bible published in 1648 was illustrated with an engraving by Frans Brun from which the design of this plate has been taken

Section of the border broken in two pieces and re-stuck minuscule areas of porcelain are missing
hairline issued from the central haircrack going through the center of the plate
another small hairline to the border very close to the right haircrack
